En 1968, Jack débarque à Paris pour quelques mois.
Il restera en France jusqu'à son décès en 1991.
Dans son livre "Français si vous chantiez"(Albin Michel) Jacques Vassal décrit
ainsi l'arrivée de Jack à Paris:
"Sans le faire exprès, c'est en Mai 68 qu'il y débarque,avec pour tout bien
sa guitare, et en poche cinq dollars. Sans amis à Paris, ni recommandation
ni adresse, ne parlant pas un mot de français, Jack doit bien se débrouiller:
Il demande à des passants où il est possible à un chanteur avec sa guitare
de faire la manche. Naturellement, on lui indique les terrasses des cafés et
les queues des cinémas à St Michel et à St Germain-des-Près...
Le premier "collègue" qu'il rencontre n'est autre que Jean-Max Brua..."
In 1968, Jack arrived in Paris for a few months.
He would remain in France until his death in 1991.
In his book "Fran?s si vous chantiez"(Albin Michel) Jacques Vassal describes
Jack's arrival in Paris:
"Unintentionally, it was in May 68 when he arrived, with his guitar and five dollars.
Without any friends or contacts in Paris, and not speaking a word of French,
Jack had to get by:
He asks passersby where he could sing and play for change.
Naturally, one indicated the terraces of cafes and the lines in front of movie theatres -
at St. Michel and St. Germain des Pres.
The first colleague that he meets is none other that Jean-Max Brua...
